Proses Pengolahan Minyak Inti Sawit

Minyak inti sawit diolah oleh sebuah pabrik inti sawit atau kernel crushing plant untuk dilakukan pengolahan minyak inti sawit. Boiler adalah salah satu alat yang paling penting di pabrik inti sawit. Karena boiler ini menjadi sumber tenaga uap yang di pakai untuk pengolahan inti sawit. Proses mengolah minyak inti sawit sangat di perlukan untuk agar lebih efisien ekstrasi minyak dari inti kelapa sawit.

 

Proses yang paling utama yaitu membersihkan inti sawit. Pembersihan tersebut bertujuan untuk meminimalisir adanya kontaminasi material seperti metal dan lain sebagainya. Untuk yang akan diperjual – belikan biasanya hanya menjual inti sawitnya saja. Karena kebanyakan yang paling di cari oleh konsumen yaitu inti sawitnya. Proses pengolahan minyak inti sawit

1. Pengertian PKO

PKO adalah kepanjangan dari Palm Kernel Oil atau biasa disebut dengan minyak inti kelapa sawit. PKO ini terbuat dari inti kelapa sawit yang sudah di proses dan diolah menjadi minyak inti sawit. Pada tahun 2000 sampai dengan 2001, produksi PKO mencapai 2,5 % dari total minyak. Tingkat produksi minyak palm kernel ini berkembang pesat jika di bandingkan dengan total minyak dan lemak. Komposisi dan sifat asam lemak dari PKO hampir sama seperti CNO ( coconut oil ).

2. Kernel Crushing Plant Process Flow

Kernel crushing plant adalah pabrik pengelola inti kelapa sawit. Proses kernel crushing plant yaitu pertama – tama proses pembersihan, lalu proses size reduction, setelah itu di lakukan proses flaking, lalu proses steam conditioning. Kemudian proses screw pressing, proses coarse screen filter, filter press, setelah jadi palm kernel oil akan di kemas dan di masukkan ke dalam gudang penyimpanan.

3. Perbedaan CPO dan PKO

Perbedaan CPO dengan PKO yaitu CPO adalah minyak yang berasal dari serabut kelapa sawit yang sudah mengalami beberapa proses seperti pengepressan, sterilisasi, dan juga klarifikasi. Sedangkan PKO merupakan minyak yang berasal dari inti buah kelapa sawit yang sudah di ekstrasi pelarut dengan cara di press. CPO di dapatkan dari pengolahan serabut kelapa sawit sedangkan PKO di dapatkan dari pengolahan inti atau biji dari kelapa sawit.

Jika buah sawit masih belum matang kandungan minyaknya masih sedikit, semakin matang buah kelapa sawit akan semakin banyak minyak yang dihasilkan. PKO memiliki karakteristik yang mirip dengan minyak kelapa.

4. Palm Kernel Oil

Palm kernel oil atau PKO adalah minyak nabati yang berasal dari kelapa sawit yang bisa di makan. Warna dari minyak sawit berbeda dengan warna minyak inti sawit. Minyak sawit memiliki warna merah jingga, sedangkan minyak inti kelapa sawit berwarna kuning karena berasal dari inti atau biji kelapa sawit. Minyak inti sawit yang bagus mempunyai kadar asam lemak bebas yang lebih rendah yang memiliki warna kuning pucat.
