Umumnya mesin screw press bekerja dengan memiliki bantuan mesin penggerak akan dihidupkan untuk dapat mengaktifkan system hidroliknya. Lalu air suhu 900 derajat selcius yang dimasukan melalui pipa. Motor mesin yang satu ini memerlukan daya sekitar 30 kw degan 1475 rpm. Mesin yang satu ini akan berputar serta bergerak maju mundur untuk dapat mengpres sawit. Berikutnya anda harus pastikan untuk dapat memenuhi mesin sampai batas maksimal supaya minyak yang dihasilkan mempunyai kualitas lebih tinggi serta bersih. Apabila memasukkan sejumlah kelapa hingga batas maksimal, maka terdapat ruang yang kosong pada mesin hingga proses press tidak akan maksimal. Terdapat banyak sawit yang hancur sebelum proses press selesai hingga minyak dihasilkan jadi kurang begitu berkualitas.
Terakhir, yang harus diperhatikan dari tipe screw press yang dipilih. Terdapat tiga jenis screw press umumnya dipakai di Indonesia adalah tipe speichin, usine de wecker, serta tipe stork. Di setiap tipe memang mempunyai mekanisme kerja yang sama, tetapi mempunyai kelemahan serta keunggulan berbeda. Yang harus diketahui kelemahannya serta berusaha untuk mengatasinya supaya hasil minyaknya juga maksimal serta berkualitas serta tidak salah memilih screw press kelapa sawit.
