Yuk caritau tentang Biogas di Indonesia,

Selama ini banyak dari kita yang kurang aware dengan hasil hutan atau limbah yang ternyata bisa digunakan sebagai energi baru untuk mengasilkan listrik. Sebuah harapan baru muncul di tengah seringnya pemadaman bergilir terjadi di Indonesia, serta banyaknya daerah terpencil yang belum mendapatkan pasokan listrik yang layak. Alat pembangkit listrik tenaga biogas menjadi harapan baru untuk hal ini.

 

Biogas diproduksi secara fermentasi dari bahan-bahan limbah, kotoran hewan, hasil hutan, dan juga sampah organik. Untuk pembangkit listrik, unsur biogas dipakai langsung untuk menggerakkan mesin diesel atau untuk membangkitkan listrik. Nilai plusnya, bahan bakar gratis dan tidak akan habis, karena berasal dari kotoran hewan atau sampah organik sisa industri.

Proses pembentukan biogas diproduksi dengan bahan organik yang dipecah dengan bantuan bakteri bebas oksigen. Proses ini berlangsung secara alami.. Namun jika di dalam pabrik proses ini dilakukan dengan cepat dengan menciptakan kondisi terbaik untuk mikroorganisme dan bakteri agar berkembang biak. Ada 4 sistem biogas yang dilalui hingga biogas bisa digunakan secara optimal.

Dengan harapan jangka panjang yang menjanjikan, pembangkit listrik tenaga biogas diharapkan menjadi solusi untuk jutaan rumah di masa depan. Mengingat banyaknya lokasi di Indonesia yang masih kekurangan listrik, maka PLTB juga diharapkan mampu memenuhi kebutuhan listrik di Indonesia yang belum merata untuk pembagiannya.

Namun, meski sangat menjanjikan kita harus menyadari bahwa kita akan menjumpai kelebihan dan kekurangan pembangkit listrik tenaga biogas yang kita gunakan. Apa saja kelebihan dan kekurangan tersebut?

Kelebihan (manfaat energi biogas):

  • Kebersihan lingkungan, karena sisa industri berupa limbah diubah menjadi hal lain yang lebih bermanfaat untuk manusia
  • Irit biaya investasi, karena periode penguraian yang cukup singkat
  • Mampu menghasilkan tenaga listrik dan panas sekaligus
  • Menghasilkan bahan bakar untuk kendaraan

Kekurangan energi biogas:

  • Memerlukan teknologi tinggi. Hal ini juga berkaitan dengan belum mungkinnya biogas dihasilkan secara melimpah dengan biaya yang rendah
  • Masih mengandung sisa kotoran. Efeknya, jika digunakan sebagai bahan bakar dapat menimbulkan korosi yang berimbas pada biaya perawatan yang mahal
  • Kurang cocok untuk wilayah metropolitan. Sebenarnya cocok, namun jika biogas dihasilkan di pusat pengolahan khusus kota-kota
  • Bau tidak sedap
  • Perawatan cukup susah

Pemanfaatan biogas sebagai pembangkit listrik dinilai cukup efektif dan dapat menjadi solusi bagi masalah yang dihadapi terkait dengan kurangnya listrik di beberapa daerah di Indonesia. Semoga energi biogas dapat disempurnakan dan membantu banyak orang.
